An Ode to 2020

I have stared at you with hate and with love, tears have swelled up in my eyes, I have cried surrounded by the darkness in the corner of my mind;

I have prayed to you, I have prayed and I have asked for forgiveness.

I have not been able to fathom what’s wrong, my Lord I have looked upto you with hope and with faith, the answer though has remained NO!

I have asked you to give me strength, endurance is all I have gained, patience it seems was the only answer to the questions put in our face.

Time- time is all we had this year, and not a penny of it was utilised, if utilisation meant going ahead with life, I did but time was squandered;

As I look ahead in the face of time, closing in , the sound of the ticking groping me, I am still afraid, afraid that will this time my questions be answered, will the world be still as one?

Being humane is all we have been this year, we have learnt from our mistakes, will the Nature be forgiving Us this year? Will we be able to return where we were?

O 2021, be not 2020, I ask for a chance, I ask for an eternal forgiveness, I am here looking at you, with Hope, Faith and Resilience.
